Rude ASMR Roleplays

Mean or bitchy or rude ASMR roleplays emerged overnight and I’ve been pretty torn on the trend.

When I’ve watched them (and trust me, I’ve watched a few) I never really find them too relaxing. Either I’m too amused to the point of laughter or I’m taken aback and don’t really know what to think.  I keep trying to think of a good comparison but I haven’t had such luck. It’s strange – because I associate ASMR with feelings of being nurtured, comfort, softness. So when an ASMRtist starts acting rude in a roleplay I always think, “This is ASMR?!”

I made an unintentional “Bitchy” roleplay video that you can watch here. I only put the word “bitchy” in the title because I guess I came off as a rude best friend in the beginning of the video. Since its upload and since changing the title, people have now been telling me that I’m not being rude enough! #fail

Because, as most people who watch ASMR videos have come to realize, ASMR is not all just whispering or speaking softly. One’s demeanor, one’s atmosphere, one’s tone of voice and one’s presentation are all vital components of ASMR.

My Thoughts

When I personally go to watch an ASMR video I want to feel pampered, I want to feel loved (as cheesy as that sounds) and comfortable.  For ASMR purposes, in my opinion, someone being rude and throwing the F-bomb around is not going to make me feel pampered, loved or comfortable.

Disagree with me all you want – PLEASE tell me how you feel in the comments but this is how I feel. I usually watch those types of videos solely for entertainment purposes but if I wanna fall asleep in 5 minutes “bitchy” or “mean” ASMR videos are ones I tend to steer clear from.

The first one I watched was Katherine Clark’s “Jealous friend makeover” video. To date, it’s one of my favorite videos because that girl is just so good at ASMR, but upon watching it for the first time, I was taken aback and then amused. I’ve watched it so many times that I know exactly when she’s going to make those snide remarks that I either mute it during those parts or skip over it. One that I thought was incredibly entertaining however, is KaySMR’s Bitchy Friend Does Your Makeup video. She slayed it!

But overall… I dunno, they’re just funny to me. Plain and simple. Will I watch them for entertainment? Heck yeah, I love watching people get creative. Will I watch them for tingles or to relax/fall asleep? Nope.

But hey, that’s just me. Now I wanna hear what you think!

Hey Lily,

I think you’re just too sweet to be mean! You are always so positive and happy, so sarcasm doesn’t seem to fit. It may be because you’ve never shown that side of you, but you can’t stay mean! By two minutes in, you were back to the caring girl that wants to help everyone. Please stay that way and don’t let the world jade you. Your happiness is part of your creative side, spreading to others in ways that musicians and writers elicit emotions through their work.

ASMR reminds me of high school or college when a girl would read a report and her cadence, tone, or just pronunciation of words would almost instantly cause a relaxing/sleepy feeling.

I know you’ve read a few times on some occasions (on YouTube, I know you READ in real life! : ), but I think you could read some of your personal essays, poems, stories. You say you love to write and I know it’s hard to share your writings, but if you have the courage to put something out there (and I can tell you do), it will blossom!

Your videos, when you are just you,(like the last Japanese food one and many others), are the best!
You are such a smart and beautiful person that I think anything you do with passion will succeed.
So forget the bitchy and mean videos, because you are trendsetter, because you are Lily!

Why did you disable comments on it on YT?

I now get excited before bedtime because I know I’m going to see my sweet bestie who helps me to sleep. That was not her. I don’t get the bitchy thing either; it’s upsetting, not relaxing.

I like Steve’s idea about reading. My ex used to read me fairy tales and I would nod off so fast. I think because I already knew the story so I could just hear the voice and not have to pay too much attention to the words. But I love everything else you do. Your voice is just perfect and I love your tapping. The Japanese snacks didn’t trigger my ASMR but I loved watching it anyway. You are just so fun and sweet. I really want to see more of Dobbie but that’s probably another channel. Keep doing you, you’re the best!
