The Best Buffalo Fried Cauliflower Recipe
A buffalo fried cauliflower recipe?! Yep. You heard me. I successfully blended three different recipes and got the most amazing turn-out for my fried cauliflower. If you’re reading this and thinking, “Ew, buffalo sauce is for chicken wings” then think again. Seriously, try making these yourself. You will be SHOCKED at how good they taste.
You can make this buffalo fried cauliflower recipe Vegan as well but since I’m not Vegan I’ve listed things that aren’t below. I will add a Vegan version to this recipe below but for now, I’ll stick with what I did:
Cauliflower (duh) – I used colorful cauliflower in my original recipe
1/2 cup Garbanzo Bean flour
1/2 cup water
1 Tablespoon corn starch
2 Egg whites (skip this if you’re V)
Dash of salt
Buffalo Sauce Ingredients
Frank’s Red Hot
Melted butter (add more to make it less spicy!) – OR Ghee, if you’re Vegan
Canola Oil (for deep frying)
Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Skip the eggs, coat the cauliflower in the batter, scatter them on a lightly-greased pan and cook until golden brown – voila! It’s that easy.
Now for the fun part: the best buffalo fried cauliflower recipe. This is a little trickier. Mainly because deep-frying isn’t the easiest thing to do in the world.
- Bring a pot of water to a boil. Add cauliflower and let cook for 5 to 8 minutes or until cauliflower is soft. Drain, and set off to the side.
- Make the batter: combine dry ingredients first then liquids and whisk until there’s no lumps. Add more Garbanzo bean flour to the fried cauliflower batter if it’s too thin.
- Add your canola oil to another pot and get hot enough to boil.
- Coat cauliflower in batter and toss into the hot oil to fry until golden brown!
- Let cool and serve.
WARNING: Everything gets soggy one the Buffalo sauce is added so I recommend serving the sauce on the side for you to “dip” or, if you plan n eating it ASAP then just cover the whole damn things!
